Nova Scotia Housing Needs Assessment until Dec 4, 2022

HousingHeader

As you all may know, housing availability, and affordability of housing, are major issues in Nova Scotia. To get a sense of the various housing needs across the province, the province is collecting data through a province-wide survey. The Town of Oxford is looking to share its input with the province by encouraging residents to provide their valuable feedback in the Provincial Housing Needs Assessment survey which will be open to input until December 4, 2022. The Housing Needs Assessment will provide data and information on current and projected housing needs for each of the 49 municipalities in Nova Scotia.

This information will be invaluable to all levels of government, the private sector, and community housing partners as they work to collectively improve the housing situation in Nova Scotia in both the short and long term. The results will not only inform the number of housing units that each community needs, but also the type of housing that needs to be built.

The data and information collected will also be used to inform the development of two new Housing Strategies: The Provincial Housing Strategy, as well as the Student Housing Strategy, which is focused on housing for post-secondary students studying in Nova Scotia.

To get more information about the survey, please see the news release Survey on Housing Needs Now Open from Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Town of Oxford Crosswalk Temporary Paint completed

Oxford CrosswalkConsidering recent material shortages, the town of Oxford hired Pat Rushton to paint our crosswalks, which was done over the weekend at the main intersection. The town would like to thank Pat for the quick response and great job in making our crosswalk more visible to walking and the driving public.  We are asking everyone driving to keep an eye out for people using the cross walks, crossing guard guiding kids across, and come to a complete stop at all segments of the Intersection.
