Watermain break corner of Pugwash Rd and New Hansford Rd.

Message from Oxford Public Works:

UPDATE 12:00 PM - Public works estimates that Pugwash Road will be open within the next hour or two as backfilling continues.

 

UPDATE 6:52 AM - Public works has been working through the night at locating and repairing the leak. Turns out there was two leaks. The water is being turned back on now slowly to test the repair. Water is now fully back on. Please call public works if you have no water 902-397-3002. Run your water for a period of time to clear cloudiness.

 

 

UPDATE 11:23 PM - Public works must shut down Pugwash Road. A detour will be in place. The detour will be Peel Street to Horton and then re-connect to Pugwash Road.

 

UPDATE: 9:30 PM - The public works team is still hard at trying to find the source of the leak. It is taking longer than expected and they may be at it for some time yet.

 

UPDATE: 2:35 PM - Public works will need to shut off the water. This will affect most of South Oxford. This will be happening shortly.

 

 12:45 PM - There is a watermain leak at the corner of Pugwash Road and New Hansford Road.
Please proceed with caution when travelling through the area. It is too early yet to know of possible water shut off. Will advise.
 
As with most watermain breaks, there is no estimated time for repair.

Traffic signs will be in place, be sure to use caution in the work zone areas.

The Town of Oxford is hiring a part time By-Law Enforcement Officer

The By-Law Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing municipal by-laws as well as providing public education and awareness programs and services in order to ensure the protection of residents, property and employees. Through the course of their duties, the By-Law Enforcement Officer will be required to respond to complaints, investigate appropriately, issue tickets as required, participate in judicial hearings and court proceedings, and follow law enforcement policies and procedures. Other responsibilities will include administrative tasks such as, but not limited to, the creation and maintenance of records and preparation of associated reports.

Repair of Water Services - Birchwood Road - July 2, 2025

Public Works has repaired the water leak on Birchwood Road and the water services has now been restored. Thank you for your patience throughout this process.

Public Works is scheduled to repair a water leak on Birchwood Road.

Residents and Businesses in the Birchwood Road area should anticipate a water service interruption throughout the day, an anticipated start time for interruptions is 10 am.

We anticipate that this repair should be reasonably quick, granted that everything goes as planned.

We apologize for any inconvenience and will have this fixed as quick as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Town Services Closed ~ Tuesday, July 1 ~ Canada Day

The Town Hall and Public Works Services will be closed for Tuesday, July 1st for Canada Day

On Wednesday, July 2nd, Public Works Services will resume at 8 am and the Town Hall will open at 1 pm (due to staff shortages).

WHEREAS Indigenous Peoples, including First Nations, Inuit, and Metis, have faced historical and ongoing trauma through colonial
policies, such as the Sixties Scoop, Millennium Scoop, birth alerts, and other practices that disrupted families and communities;


WHEREAS Indigenous Survivors Day recognizes the strength and courage of those who have endured these injustices and honors the
resilience, cultural heritage, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples;


WHEREAS the Town of Oxford is committed to advancing reconciliation, inclusivity, and respect for all communities;


NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the Town of Oxford do hereby proclaim June 30, 2025, as
