Please Conserve Your Water Usage - Advisory

The Town of Oxford is asking for your assistance in conserving our water reserves. As other areas around the province are experiencing a strained water supply, due to the prolonged period of minimal rainfall, we would like to conserve as much water as possible to ensure there is enough water for everyone to use.

We kindly request that you consider the following:

☑ Limit outdoor watering to the minimum necessary

☑ Take shorter showers and turn off the tap while brushing your teeth

☑ Run full loads of laundry and dishes

☑ Check for and repair any leaks in your home

☑ Refrain from washing your vehicles until the advisory is lifted

Your cooperation and mindful water usage are crucial during this dry period.

Thank you for your commitment to our community and for helping us conserve this vital resource.

**UPDATE** Nova Scotia Power has rescheduled this work until next Tuesday, August 12, 2025, as this work will require a hydro vac truck. Road closures will be in place during this work as below.

Nova Scotia Power will be on site at the corner of Waverly and Water Street to replace a broken power pole that was damaged sometime overnight on Tuesday August 5, 2025

In order for this work to be carried out, Waverly Street will be closed from the intersection of Waverly and Water Street and Ellis and Waverly Street.

We do not have an estimated time of repair, but residents are asked to avoid this area until repairs are completed.

Province-Wide Restrictions for Wooded Areas and Trails

Nova Scotia
Because of the exceptionally hot and dry conditions, as of 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the Province has placed restrictions on travel and activity in the woods across Nova Scotia. This is in addition to the province-wide burn ban that was put in place on July 30.
Nova Scotians are being asked to stay out of the woods. Hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods are not permitted. People can still access beaches and parks, but trail systems are off-limits. Camping is only allowed in official campgrounds. The fine for violating these restrictions is $25,000.
For municipalities, while not specified, we'd encourage taking steps to limit use of wooded areas in your parks and trails for the time being.
