Oxford Arena - Arena Attendant Position

WHO WE ARE 

The Arena Association was formed in September 2021 with the sole objective of overseeing the operation of the arena facility at 70 Waverly Street known as the Oxford Arena, with a focus on making it efficient, low cost, sustainable, and accessible.

THE ROLE 

As an Arena Operator with the Oxford Arena Association, you will be part of a team proud to provide safe, quality arena facilities to members of the Town of Oxford and Cumberland County community. Daily you will ensure the ice rink is well cleaned and maintained, and equipment is organized and in proper working order. You will greet visitors, manage access to the facility and answer customer inquiries. You will patrol the facility to ensure rules and regulations are being followed and equipment and facilities are safe for all those that visit.

TYPICAL DUTIES 

*Ensure quality ice resurfacing to accommodate various activities hockey, figure skating, curling, and public skate; by installing, removing, marking and maintaining the ice surface. As well as being responsible for the operation and care of the ice resurfacing equipment and monitoring the operation of the refrigeration systems.
*Provide quality customer service to a wide variety of arena facility users by managing ice bookings, answering questions, providing assistance with concerns and directing the customers as needed.
*Monitor rink and room bookings to ensure clients with reserved ice time and facility rooms adhere to the confirmed times.
*Monitor the actions of groups and individuals using the arena facilities, e. public awareness of by- laws and regulations.
*Plan, prioritize and organize tasks to meet daily operational needs of the facility.
*Perform custodial duties, general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the Ensure all procedures identified in the Arenas Operations Manual are being followed.
*Keep the operation committee informed of issues affecting departmental
*Maintain simple records such as but not limited to facility use, maintenance schedules, facility concerns, supplies needed and other reports as directed by the operations committee.
*Maintain and ensure safe work practices are observed for all
*Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

*Develop and maintain a working knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in ice resurfacing and building maintenance.
*Develop and maintain a working knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved with the work assigned.
*Provide strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills both verbally and written.
*Demonstrate the ability to work in an independent capacity and/or group environment.
*Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods.
*Ability to communicate by understanding verbal and written instructions from supervisor and colleagues, along with communicating in a professional manner.
*Ability to maintain simple records
*Physically able to perform the work of the class
*Ability to work evenings and weekends.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

Experience of arena operations experience including operating equipment such as ice resurfaces, tractors, or other related equipment of similar size and complexity. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. 

Possession of a valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.  

Emergency First Aid, AED, and CPR considered an asset.

Oxford Transfer Station switch back to Fall Operating Hours

Oxford Transfer Station Switching to Fall Operating Hours after September 30, 2023

The Oxford Transfer Station will switch back to Fall operating hours on

Thursday October 5, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and
Friday, and Saturday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM  

Please note, the Transfer Station will be closed on

Saturday September 30th for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 

The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesday September 27th from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM to accommodate the closing on September 30th. 

If you require a new Town of Oxford Transfer Station card or need new sorting guides, please visit the town office during the hours of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday to Friday.
