Message from Public Works: Public work will need to turn the water off briefly tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, on Black River Road to make the connection at a residence to the main water line.

The water outage is expected to take approximately 1 hour.

The Oxford Town Hall will be closed today between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM today, due to staff shortages.

Volunteer Opportunity - Planning and Advisory Committee

VOLUNTEER Opportunity!

The Town of Oxford's Planning Advisory Committee requires three (3) citizen volunteers to join the committee.

The Planning Advisory Committee is an appointed Committee of Council, and is comprised of three Councillors and three local citizens. The mandate of the Planning Advisory Committee is to perform necessary duties relating to community planning, as required by the Municipal Planning Strategy, Municipal Government Act, and Public Participation Policy.

This committee’s duties include making recommendations to theTown Council on land use planning matters including Municipal Plan Amendments, rezoning of property, zone amendments, and subdivisions.

This committee may meet as much as one evening a month, but only as needed.

PROCLAMATION

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

January 2025

WHEREAS There are an estimated 16,000 people living with dementia in Nova Scotia; and

WHEREAS It is projected that the number of people living with dementia in Nova Scotia will increase by 87% with nearly 30,000 people likely to be living with dementia by 2050; and

WHEREAS The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia is committed to alleviating the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and to promoting the search for the causes, and cures.

THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Greg Henley, Mayor, Town of Oxford, do hereby declare January as Alzheimer's Awareness Month in the Town of Oxford.

This course prepares youth ages 11-15 with the necessary skills to care for infants, toddlers, and children, including: diaper changes, bottle feeding, basic food prep, basic home safety & first aid, and ideas for games and activities (30ppl max).

 

Please note: Participants should bring a doll or teddy to practice feeding/holding etc. Lunch is not provided. Reminder we are a nut-free facility.
