WHEREAS Oxford's two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual (2SLGBTQIA+) * community is a vibrant and proud group within the community at large;

WHEREAS the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies collaborate to make Oxford a safe and positive community for all by raising Safer Space awareness and celebrating the diversity of our citizens;

WHEREAS the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies recognize a gender/sexuality alliance is imperative to the well-being of all;

WHEREAS the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies encourage dialogue as a tool towards an inclusive society that celebrates diversity in the Oxford area;

THEREFORE, I, Greg Henley, Mayor of Oxford, on behalf of Oxford Town Council, proclaim June 2026 as Pride Month in Oxford, recognizing that everyone has the right to live in conditions of dignity, respect, and peace regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Proclamation - Indigenous Peoples Month / Day June 2026

Whereas June is recognized as Indigenous Peoples History Month in Canada as an opportunity to bring
awareness and understanding of the diverse histories, resilience, and achievements of Indigenous
peoples across the country; and

Whereas June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, an opportunity to amplify Indigenous voices,
and perspectives, enriching our understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures and heritage
across Turtle Island; and

Whereas the Town of Oxford recognizes that meaningful and sustained efforts are required to enact
systematic change to create an environment that upholds the rights, dignity, and well-being of
Indigenous Peoples; and

Whereas we recommit our efforts, as an organization and a community, to actively building
meaningful, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities based on respect and
cultural understanding and reconciliation to advance inclusivity, diversity and equity on our path
of reconciliation;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Mayor Greg Henley, on behalf of the Town of Oxford Council, do
hereby proclaim June to be National Indigenous Peoples Month and the date of June 21, 2026, as
National Indigenous Peoples Day in the Town of Oxford.

Celebrate Nova Scotia Access Awareness Week May 31-June6/26

WHEREAS, the week of May 31 st - June 6th, 2026, is recognized as Access Awareness Week; and

WHEREAS the 2026 theme is Disability Justice: Stronger together, First Voice Leading Change for Collective Action; and

WHEREAS Access Awareness Week aims to celebrate achievements made both by and for persons with disabilities in the areas of accessibility, transportation, housing, employment, recreation, education, and communication; and

WHEREAS this is the 39th year that this public awareness initiative has taken place in Nova Scotia; and

WHEREAS Access Awareness Week promotes the inclusion of all Nova Scotians with disabilities as full citizens within our communities; and

WHEREAS through public awareness, community partnerships and education, this campaign aims to foster an environment of equal participation for persons with disabilities within the Town of Oxford.

THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Greg Henley, Mayor on behalf of the Town of Oxford, do hereby proclaim May 31 st -June 6th, 2026, as  pdf "Access Awareness Week"(39 KB) in the Town of Oxford.

TAKE NOTICE that Council gave First Reading of a development agreement for 4812 Main Street (PID: 25388208) at their Special Town Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 13th and agreed to enter into an agreement to permit the construction of three four-unit townhouses located at 4812 Main Street.


AND TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6:00 pm in Town Hall Council Chambers, 105 Lower Main Street, during a Special Town Council Meeting
Council will hear submissions in support or opposition to proposed development. Written submissions may be provided to the Chief Administrative Officer at 105 Lower Main Street, or by email to cao@oxfordns.ca no later than Monday, June 8, 2026 at 4:00 pm.

Notice is hereby given that Oxford Town Council intends to consider second reading and enter into a development agreement to permit the construction of three four-unit townhouses located at 4812 Main Street.


Town Council received an application by Robin Blake for a development agreement to permit the construction of three four-unit townhouses located at 4812 Main Street. The proposed townhouses would join an existing four-unit townhouse (currently under construction) which was approved through the Site Plan Approval Process on April 30th, 2025.


The proposal presents a strong opportunity to generate long-term benefits for the Town of Oxford. This development is aligned with the area’s development potential and is anticipated to attract both new residents and provide more opportunities for businesses to located in Oxford.


Council intends to give second reading at their special town council meeting on Wednesday, June 10, immediately following the Public Hearing scheduled for 6:00 pm in Town Hall Council Chambers, 105 Lower Main Street, Oxford, NS.

Proclamation: Int. Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, Bi

WHEREAS the Town of Oxford recognizes that no one can be discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression;

WHEREAS the Town of Oxford is a municipality open to everyone, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people (2SLGBTQIA+) and to all other people who identify with sexual diversity and the multiplicity of gender identities and expressions;

WHEREAS, despite recent efforts towards greater inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ people, homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia are still present in society.

WHEREAS, the theme "At the Heart of Democracy": focuses on strengthening democracy through equality, justice, and the active inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+

WHEREAS May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia is celebrated as such in many countries and is the result of a Quebec-based initiative promoted by Fondation Emergence starting in 2003.
WHEREAS there is reason to support the efforts of Fondation Emergence in holding this day;

It is resolved to proclaim May 17  pdf INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA, TRANSPHOBIA, AND Bl PHOBIA(26 KB) and to recognize this day as such.

Proclamation - Safety and Health Week - May 4 - 9, 2026

Whereas the Town of Oxford recognizes the importance of Safety and Health across Canada; and

Whereas the goal of Safety and Health Week is to focus employers, employees, partners and the public on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home, and in the community; and

Whereas the Corporate Mission "To be a best practices leader of municipal government and a collaborative partner with our member municipalities and community partners" includes the commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace through the elimination of workplace hazards causing injury, harassment, and violence for all its employees, contractors, volunteers, and visitors;
