Heating Assistance Rebate Program

Applications opened on October 1, 2026

The Heating Assistance Rebate Program provides rebates to tens of thousands of low-income Nova Scotians to help offset their winter heating costs.

The HARP rebate amount is $400. To qualify, applicants must directly pay for their home heating costs and meet the income thresholds: single-person households with a 2025 net income of $30,000 or less and households of two or more people with a combined 2025 net income of $45,000 or less can qualify (for net income, HARP considers Line 23600 on tax returns). Applicants who receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) from Service Canada or receive Income Assistance from the Department of Opportunities and Social Development can also qualify.
