WHEREAS, Parkinson's is a neurological-debilitating disease that can be treated but not cured. It causes tremors in the arms, hands, and legs, muscular rigidity, slowness of movement, difficulty speaking and swallowing, depression, and a list of other symptoms; and
WHEREAS, Parkinson's Awareness Month is April 2026 and brings into focus its life-changing effects; and
WHEREAS, Parkinson's Society Nova Scotia is a non-profit society and is comprised of a dedicated group of volunteers whose mandate is to provide education, advocacy, research and support to all Parkinson's patients, caregivers, and families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Mayor Greg Henley, on behalf of the Town of Oxford Council, do hereby proclaim April 2026 as "Parkinson's Awareness Month" in the Town of Oxford.
