Proclamation: pdf National Day of Mourning (34 KB) ,
Province of Nova Scotia, April 28, 2025

See Facebook video post here.

Whereas the people of Nova Scotia have faced profound sorrow in the wake of events that have brought great loss to our communities, and

Whereas we stand united in grief, as families, neighbors, and friends, to honor the lives of those we have lost or injured in workplace tragedies, and to reflect on the resilience and strength of our province, and

Whereas this day serves as a solemn reminder of the need for compassion, kindness, and mutual support in times of hardship, and

Whereas we acknowledge the courage and dedication of those who provided care, comfort, and assistance in these tragic times,

On this day, we encourage all Nova Scotians to pause in reflection, commemorate the lives of those lost, and extend support to those who carry the weight of grief.

Let this day remind us all, employers and employees alike, that workplace safety is very important, and we need to prioritize the health and well-being of workers everywhere.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, _Greg Henley_, on behalf of the Town of Oxford Council, do hereby proclaim this day, April 28, 2025, as a National Day of Mourning in the Town of Oxford

Signed: _Greg Henley_,
Mayor, Town of Oxford
