Information and Communication Standard Development Committee: Call for Members
Help Make Communications in Nova Scotia More Accessible
Reminder: Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Advisory Board is seeking members for the Information and Communications Standard Development Committee.
The committee will help the Board make recommendations to the Minister of Justice on a standard to prevent and remove barriers to communications for people with disabilities. This standard will help people with disabilities access information.
For example, there may be recommendations about getting information in print or online (digital), training about accessible communications, plain language formats so that information is easy to understand the first time it is read or heard, and how to make sure information and communication is accessible with commonly used assistive technologies.
Information about the committee and how to apply can be found in English, ASL and French on the Accessibility Directorate website.
Committee Member Criteria
The Accessibility Advisory Board is looking for applications from people who are:
- interested in sharing their knowledge and experience about information and communications
- people with disabilities
- representatives of organizations serving people with disabilities
- representatives of organizations that could be affected by the standard, such as businesses, libraries, museums, schools, and municipalities.
