**The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, an independent tribunal, is responsible for regulating public utilities in Nova Scotia. It oversees various applications and appeals related to municipal water utilities. As of April 1, 2025, the NSUARB will be replaced by the Nova Scotia Energy Board and the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board

Cross Connections and Backflow Prevention - Cross Connection Bylaw
What is a Cross Connection? A cross connection is any actual or potential connection between the public water supply and any pipe, vessel, tank, plumbing fixture, equipment, or device connected to a non-potable system.
Preventing potentially hazardous backflow requires removal of all existing cross connections in your home, yard, business, and industry. If eliminating a cross connection is not possible, protect it by installing an approved backflow prevention device selected and installed to the relevant industry codes and standards. Please consult our Cross Connection Control Bylaw and Cross Connection Control Plan below for further details.
